Lawyer John Brenes

John is a member of the Dispute Resolution practice, where he focuses on criminal and administrative litigation.

He has experience satisfactorily dealing with highly complex cases related to corruption offences, cybercrimes, fraud and other economic crimes in all stages of the criminal process. In addition, he has accompanied and advised senior public officials in investigations carried out by special and permanent commissions of the Legislative Assembly.

In contentious-administrative matters, he has extensive experience dealing with precautionary measures and complex cases involving infrastructure, public employment, commercial disputes, and Tort Law. 

He is a member of the Costa Rica Integra Association, Costa Rican chapter of Transparency International, where he has participated in projects related to issues of judicial integrity and in drafting commissions for legal reform projects.

Law Degree with emphasis in forensic science from the Universidad de Costa Rica (2016).

Master of laws in Criminal Justice approved with distinction from Queen Mary University of London (2019).

Masterclass in Human Rights from University of Antwerp (Belgium) and Queen Mary University of London (2019).
