Lawyer Juan Ignacio Guzmán

Juan Ignacio has dedicated a large part of his career advising companies in different sectors, mainly in software development, blockchain technologies, crypto assets, non-fungible tokens (NFT), as well as companies specialized in agriculture, exports, distribution networks, raw materials, and franchised restaurant chains.

He has earned regional leadership by advising local and foreign clients on disruptive technologies, FinTech, cryptocurrencies, data mining, and other technological innovation processes.

He has also led important processes for the Costa Rican and Central American markets, like attraction of foreign investment, the structuring of real estate transactions, and M&A processes.

He is a trusted partner to his clients and thus has been appointed member of the Board of Directors of transnational companies domiciled in Costa Rica.  His work has led him to acquire vast experience in the nearshoring process of the IT services export industry to countries such as the United States and Canada.

Juan Ignacio complemented his practice in law as a planning and regulatory advisor for the Central Bank of Costa Rica, specifically in the creation and improvement of regulations in highly regulated sectors such as financial entities and pension operators. Likewise, he has served as a permanent member of the FinTech Committee hosted by the Central Bank of Costa Rica.

Juan Ignacio is also a professor at the University of Costa Rica in the chair of Private Contracts and Commercial Law.
